The Venlo-type greenhouse is called a "smart greenhouse" primarily because it is equipped with a comprehensive environmental control system that allows for precise control of light, temperature, humidity, ventilation, and irrigation within the greenhouse. The following are its main supporting facilities, categorized by function:
Ventilation and Cooling Systems
Natural Ventilation System (Roof Vent System)
Openable skylights are installed at the ridge of the greenhouse roof. Utilizing the principle of hot air rising (chimney effect), air convection is achieved, expelling excess heat and moisture.
This system typically uses a gear and rack transmission mechanism, driven by an electric motor, to automatically control the opening angle of the windows.
Forced Ventilation and Cooling System (Fan + Evaporative Cooling Pad System)
Fans draw air out of the greenhouse, creating negative pressure. External air passes through evaporative cooling pads, cooling it before entering the greenhouse, achieving rapid cooling, especially suitable for high-temperature environments in summer.
The cooling pads are often equipped with electrically operated external windows to prevent rainwater from entering.
Circulation Fan System
Installed inside the greenhouse, this system promotes even air flow, preventing excessive local differences in temperature and humidity, and improving the consistency of crop growth.
Shading and Insulation Systems
External Shading System
Installed above the greenhouse roof, this system uses shading nets to reflect some of the sunlight, reducing the radiant heat entering the interior and lessening the cooling load. Black shading nets are commonly used, and the shading rate can be adjusted according to crop requirements.
Internal Shading and Insulation System
Located inside the greenhouse, this system uses aluminum foil composite shading screens. In summer, it provides shading and cooling, while in winter, it reduces infrared radiation heat loss, providing insulation and energy saving. It also has the function of regulating light uniformity.
Temperature Control and Heating System
Equipped with heating equipment (such as hot water pipes, hot air furnaces, etc.), this system activates during winter or low nighttime temperatures to maintain a suitable temperature environment for crop growth. The system can be linked with a smart controller to automatically start and stop based on the set temperature.
